Geek Village Winter Tales - Hasselt (BE) 21-12-2025

When I saw the announcement for Geek Village I just couldn't help myself. The price was good, the distance not too far, the date was free and they also had a special offer for early birds? Sign me up!

It'll be my first time visiting Geek Village and after seeing pictures from the Summer Festival I have high hopes. Not sure yet who I'll bring, the current debate is between Mihawk and something warmer in case the winter weather hits!

Wintergeek Festival - La Louvière (BE) 13/14-12-2025

I didn't have any more conventions planned until Geek Village at the end of year, when this one was recommended to me by a friend. Fun fact: I used to live 10 km away from La Louvière for 4 years and didn't even know the had a cosplay convention going on! Since the ticket prices were really low I decided to take a weekend ticket and use the opportunity to visit some friends back there too. It's a win-win situation!

I decided I would let the weather pick my costume, since I couldn't choose between Hatter, Mihawk, Cammy or Suki.

Made In Asia - Brussels (BE) 19-10-2025

For what would be one of my last conventions of the year, I wanted to think outside of the box since the weekend of Facts was already booked full and the ticket prices from DCC were just insane. I had already cancelled Made In Asia in spring and I thought it would be nice to let this convention replace them for me.

Because I simply can't stop myself and I have too many cosplans, I decided to make a new cosplay for this occasion too. Cammy from Street Fighter had been on my cosplan list for a while and I thought to myself, why not for Made In Asia? So of course I put myself in a three week concrunch doing new things and using new techniques just to get her done in time!

I decided to go by myself again, partly because I wanted to meet up with some people and not feel obligated to keep moving, partly because I noticed that when I go by myself I don't have the urge to mother everyone around me and feel responsible for everyone, which can be very exhausting and quite often ruins my own experience. It turned out to be a very good decision because I met with so many people!

Right off the bat I met my fellow Mihawk cosplayer and we had a nice little chat, then I started to browse the shops. I didn't fully understand the size of Made In Asia until I got lost at every turn. It was so big that it took me some time to get the idea of the layout, and by then I ran into some other people to chat with which was super nice. I also met Baymax! I got a lot of recognition while walking around (got mistaken for a Tekken and Mortal Kombat character but I forgave the mix-up) and quite a lot of people wanted pictures too. I had expected to get a certain level of creepshots because of the bodysuit but I didn't see a single one and everybody asked nicely so faith in humanity = restored. During the day I had multiple photographers asking for pictures and at the end even a small shoot outside so I can't wait to get those shots! One of the photographers gave me his card, which was his Instagram name written on an actual Pokémon card and I'll treasure it forever.

I think the nicest compliments I got were about the braids, which had cost me so much of my sanity so to hear that they looked amazing really did lift me up. And of course the little girl that called me pretty, asked if I was cold and then rubbed my arm to warm me up (insert crying emotion here)!

Cammy turned out to be my second most comfortable cosplay (after the Viking). She was not too hot and not too cold, I could carry a backpack around (huuuuge game changer), there were no parts that I had to watch out for and no risk of things getting broken or people getting poked. The only problem were the boots; despite 10 gel bandaids I still got a blister on my heel but it was small so I'll live. All in all she's a really nice cosplay to bring along and no makeup means no hassle in the mornings either!

I really had one of the best days at a convention so far, because honestly I didn't even go for the shops, I went to meet up with people and be social for a change and those people wanted to meet up with me too and that made me feel so appreciated. It's amazing to see how you can feel so free when you can be yourself and everybody lifts you up, no negativity, only compliments and positivity. Definitely one of the best days!

Japan Day - Liège (BE) 28-09-2025

So I'd been debating a long time to go to Japan Day and it took me until 5 days before the actual con to make a decision on going or not. I wanted to go because it was a new con for me, ticket prices were decent and Liège is pretty doable by car. The only things holding me back were, well, finances and the fact that I had plans for basically all of my weekends in October and November and I do really need some rest at some point. But, after receiving very bad news just the week before the con I decided that I really needed a getaway and bring some positivity back around. Thankfully the ticket prices hadn't gone up much so I said to heck with the finances and onwards to fun stuff!

I ended up going with a friend who had never been to a Belgian convention and it was great to show her how nice and friendly the Belgian cosplay community is. Right off the start I met some people for pictures which was special to me because they had been looking for me and I felt so appreciated because of that! Actually, the whole day was running into people I met before, people asking for pictures or just having a chat and I think this was one of the most interactive cons I've ever had and it felt amazing. Yoru attracted a lot of fans and even though he was heavy to carry and I had muscle cramps for two days after the con, the attention was so worth it. This is actually the first con where, apart from the pictures takes by other people, I have no selfie or picture of myself because I simply had no time to take any!

On one of the instagram stories of Japan Day I saw a picture of an Applin print that I just had to have, and after about five rounds of the shops and still no sign of it I almost lost my hope on fining it, but lo and behold the last stand I checked had it right in the front of the stand! The seller was super nice and Applin is going to get a great spot with my costumes!

We ended the day with some well deserved McDonald's (the foodtrucks at the con were so busy it was almost impossible to order anything) and I can happily say that this great day definitely lifted my bad spirits!

Photoshoot workshop - Heusden (NL) 13/14-9-2025

While browsing the Cosplaycloud Facebook group I saw a post from Marjolein Tap from StudioMT where she was asking for models in costumes for a photoshoot workshop for two days. It was not far away and since I don't have many photoshoot opportunities I decided to ask if they still needed people. The post was already over a week old and the shoot was the next weekend so I didn't dare to have high hopes, but thankfully they still needed people so I picked my best swirly costume and hit the road!

The concept of the photoshoots was great: each model had a shoot with three photographers in Heusden, a small fortress village in the shape of a star with a harbour, windmills, cannons and tons of small streets and old houses. I had brought my Hatter for the first day, even crocheted an umbrella because it was supposed to rain (hint: it was sunny all weekend) and I was so happy with this choice! The small streets, cobblestones and overall aesthetic of the village fitted so well with my Hatter. The photographers were all super kind, super helpful with posing and finding good spots and the whole vibe was so relaxed and professional! I was already looking forward to the next day and I decided in the car home that I would bring a different costume because this opportunity with good photographers and an amazing setting was too amazing to let it slip!

The next day I decided on Mihawk because I thought he would fit well in the village too, plus Mihawk is just a super nice costume wit the long coat and feathery hat. I brought Yoru too (unfortunately he didn't make it for the third shoot) and my mum because the weather was super nice again and she was good with a day out and about. Again, super well organized with three great photographers and amazing settings. I found the cannons and was so excited to get a picture of Mihawk with an actual cannon!

This experience was so nice and so different from the cons: all the focus was on the costume and taking pictures in settings and poses that would do justice for the character. It was amazing to learn more about modeling, how to pose and what not to do, get tips from a professional photographer and of course the amazing results! If I would ever be able to do this again there would be no doubt in my mind, so well organized and such lovely people!

Manga and Cosplay Festival - Hasselt (BE) 6/7-9-2025

This amazing opportunity came to me by surprise when I was having a chat with the photographers from Cosplaycloud at Atsusacon. I had never heard of the Japanese Garden in Hasselt, let alone of a two-day cosplay festival where the perimeters of the garden are open for photoshoots! Of course this was a no-brainer so tickets were bought and a new costume was commenced!

Ever since I made Suki I had the idea of making another Onna-Bugeisha, a female samurai, in tones of grey and black. I had just over a month to crunch this costume and of course I wanted insane details like a leather oni mask and a leather kabuto helmet, so time was short and nights were long but it was so worth it to have an accurate costume for this amazing setting!

The first day was absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations by a kilometer. The garden is stunning and around every corner there was something new to see like Torii gates, shrines, authentic houses and huge koi carps! I managed to see every part of the garden and participate in the forest photoshoot from Cosplaycloud before I decided to call it off early since I would be going back the next day with my mum.

Both my mum and my little brother joined me the next day and we hurried to make it in time for the Cosplaycloud photoshoot in the ceremonial house! My mum made a gorgeous silver kimono for the occasion and we got some great shots together. After photos it was lunchtime and it was definitely the best Japanese food I ever had! Onigiri, chicken curry, fried chicken, chicken teriyaki and steamed rice with veggies... I could barely move after all the food. Unfortunately the heat really affected us (armour and 30+ degrees don't go well together) so we decided to leave earlier than planned. That meant we missed out on the waterfall photoshoot but I think I'll come back here sometime in low season for photos because the garden is just absolutely stunning!

I also found a painted travel stone on the first day and got to hold a turtle duck (from Uncle Iroh!) the second day!

Elftopia - Deinze (BE) 8/9-8-2025

As amazing as comiccons are, fantasy fairs have a special place in my heart. I love everything whimsical and natural, characters like witches, trolls, pixies, Vikings, steampunk and pirates are very high up my appreciation ladder (even more than most anime and pop-culture characters, oops). Since Elfia and Castlefest were sold out this summer I was thinking about Elftopia. I heard amazing things about it, but since it's even farther than Gent it would be really difficult to make it in a day so I kinda gave up on it. However, when my mum heard of it she got super excited and offered to turn it into a mum-daughter weekend trip with a night at a hotel so suddenly this amazing weekend was on!

The drive was quite a thing, because it took us almost 4 hours to even get to Elftopia (gotta love traffic jams). But as soon as we arrived we realized it was really worth it! We started the day with a nice platter of fried seafood, after which we browsed the stands. The weather was boiling hot so I ended up taking off my fur capelet quite fast and we had a little picnic on the lawns of the castle. Even though we didn't stay very long the first day it was still great to meet a few people that I saw before at cons and have a chat with them!

The next day we had some more fixed plans: the day before I had spotted a bumblebee brooch that I really wanted to get, we both wanted to check out the gemstone shop (I got this a-ma-zing crystal too!) and my mum wanted to inspect the wandmaking workshop. On top of that I hoped to run into the Cosplaycloud photographers because I hadn't found them the first day, and about half an hour after we arrived they stopped us for pictures! We saw many amazing outfits and it was fun to just relax in the grass and observe the people and their amazingly crafted costumes.

At the end of the day we both got an Elftopia token, a superb little reminder of this awesome weekend!

Atsusacon - Gent (BE) 20-7-2025

First time Atsusacon! At first I didn't want to go because it's a 2 hour drive and I get really tired during the day so the trip back could be a problem, but when I saw there would be a Costume Competition and a Cosplaycloud photoshoot I just had to go!

I've always wanted to join a Costume Competition, for the simple reason that I would love to compete with my costume but I have stage fright so the real Cosplay Competition where you perform your character is just a few steps too high up the ladder for me. I noticed that not all conventions offer Costume Competitions so I took my chance and signed up for this one. I also signed up for the Copslaycloud photoshoot, this time in the woods, because the results from the previous one with Mihawk were just so awesome!

The competition was a really nice experience, even though I almost flunked it because I got stuck in traffic and arrived only in the nick of time. After lots of questions from the judges and a presentation of my costume on stage in front of the audience, I got crowned the Jury's Favourite and won a big box of foam, foam clay and goodies, including a new sticker for my sewing machine!

The photoshoot was, again, absolutely amazing. I thought there would be only one location, but we ended up shooting at two locations and even did a little bonus shoot with the rose bush!

I also met up with some people again and I'm slowly getting the feeling that I might actually have a spot in this amazing community!

Starcom Comiccon - Gent (BE) 29-6-2025

This was my first time visiting Starcom in Gent. I learned about it via Instagram, because Cosplaycloud promoted their photoshoots at the con. Since I rarely get the chance to do proper photoshoots with professionals, I signed up for the waterfall shoot in my Mihawk cosplay.

Of course, I had to make Yoru for this awesome opportunity. He was on my list for a very long time but I never got around to make him. I concrunched and made him in one week (with immense help from my little brother and great tips from my mum!) and he is so awesome! It was also the first time I decided to not wear my long black wig for Mihawk but to keep my short hair and dye it black with spray paint. The short hair was a good thing, the spray paint was almost invisible but hey, it's the idea that counts and since I would have a photoshoot I tried my best!

Starcom was, I think, the best convention I've been to so far. It was rather small, not too many people, but the vibe was really nice and relaxed and many people wanted to have a little chat. I even met up with someone I met before (which, like, never happens to me) and it was super nice because I got recognized. Despite the burning heat, the photoshoot was a-ma-zing! I'm so glad I gave this small convention a chance, such a breath of fresh air from all the big busy cons!

And I got a mini ducky as a gift!!!

Heroes Dutch Comic Con - Utrecht (NL) 22-6-2025

Dutch Comic Con, the classic! My very first con on my own, by myself. There would be a Star Wars group photo so I decided to bring Ahsoka.

DCC was, as always, busy and full of cosplayers. I got a lot of compliments on Ahsoka and the group photo was amazing. So many dedicated cosplayers, and even kids with self-made Mandalorian helmets from cardboard and tape which made me really happy. I spotted one of my childhood heroes, Pieter Post (Postman Pat for my non-Dutchies) and he even had his cat Snoes with him so of course I had to get a picture of us together!

Fur lunch I had one of the best convention foods I ever found: salmon pokébowl. It was great, surprisingly affordable and really pulled me up for another round of the dealer hall. I got a Royal Dutch Navy sticker (the military had a stand there) which is now proudly stuck on my sewing machine (along with the Samuraipool, a Nintendo sticker, a Fuuki sticker and a dragon sticker from my local foam shop)!

Going by myself was a great decision, it was very liberating to just walk around and not have to wait for anyone and mostly to be able to call it a day when I was tired. Definitely doing this again!

VikingFest - Eindhoven (NL) 7-6-2025

VikingFest was something completely different and super awesome. It was held in the historical open air museum in Eindhoven, and focused completely on the original and authentic ways of the Vikings. My mum really wanted to go so of course I joined! My brother had ordered a bunch of woodworking chisels from the blacksmith there which he could pick up so he also joined us.

VikingFest, of course, called for a Viking outfit. Together with my mum I started working and we made our own dresses, aprons and accessories according to Norse traditions, historical findings and our personal experience on our holiday in Norway in April. My mum even made a pair of leather shoes!

Unfortunately it regularly rained heavily during the day, but that certainly didn't kill the mood (although it made me happy that I wore my stable boots and not handmade leather shoes)! All the vendors and craftsmen were dressed in traditional clothes, they worked their crafts for everybody to see and they performed real Viking fights. I really had to hold back to not buy all the hand spun skeins of wool, the sheepskins and the hairbeads. I did get a traditional nailbinding needle from my mum so I have a new craft to try!

We finished the day with some authentic fries, sunshine and a few pictures at the lake. It was amazing to see so many people dedicated to keep these traditions alive and blooming!

Comiccon Holland - 's Hertogenbosch (NL) 4-5-2025

My brother was going to Comiccon Holland with some friends, and when I saw it was on Star Wars Day I simply couldn't resist and got tickets. That, of course, meant going in a Star Wars cosplay and since I love making unconventional things I picked Ahsoka Tano in her outfit from Star Wars Rebels!

The work on the cosplay was immense but so satisfactory! It was the first time that I bought patterns of Etsy to help me make a foam armour and the lekku (also the first time making foam armour and a lekku) and even though it was a rollercoaster to say the least, the result turned out so much better than I expected!

We ended up going to the convention with a whole group: me, my mum, my brother, two of his friends and one of their mums. Already at the entrance there were a bunch of people from the 501st and while we waited for my brother and his friends (it was girl group - boy group) I got a lot of compliments and pictures which made me feel super awesome!

The con itself was busy, and since it was my first time there it was nice to see the differences between the cons. The life-size Tie Fighter was just magnificent and I even met a Wookie! I think the best part of the day was a small kid in a Jedi outfit that wanted to take a picture with me while we were standing at the lightsaber academy. The guy from the academy gave him and me a lightsaber and I don't think I ever saw a kid that excited to take a picture (for privacy reasons I didn't post him but it's one of my favorite pictures from this con!).

We ended the day with some fries and a glorious fresh waffle. Even though the lekku and the bodypaint were boiling hot it was so worth bringing Ahsoka along, she's definitely one of my favourite cosplays!

Heroes Facts - Gent (BE) 5-4-2025

One of my favorite conventions, Facts. Big, lots of cosplayers, lots of shops, lots of everything and of course the photobooth! It was a last minute decision to go (I think 3 days before the con I bought my tickets) and my little brother came along.

The day started a bit off when I was looking to park my car. Everything was full, it took us almost 45 min to find a parking spot and I ended up parking at the side of the road (sorry not sorry). I did miss the cosplay catwalk because of it, but since I wore my trusty Mad Hatter I didn't mind it that much.

Nachos for lunch later, we started browsing the dealer hall and artist alley. I found my favorite shop and got a few chunks of the best fudge ever and the traditional picture at the Cosplaycloud photobooth. It was my first time wearing Hatter with short hair but I think it gets the job done well!

Since it was very hot and busy we didn't stay too long but it was great to visit this con. So far, since I started cosplaying, I haven't missed a single Facts convention!

Made In Asia - Brussels (BE) 9-3-2025

It would've been a first to visit Made In Asia, and I had my tickets way in advance, but since I had a holiday pop up and the flight would be the day after MIA I decided to forfeit so I would be fresh for the flight.

I will be back someday!

Japan Con Brussels Manga - Brussels (BE) 22-2-2025

My little brother is a big fan of Japan and One Piece, and he told me he'd like to visit a convention someday, so I invited him to Japan Con for his birthday. Moving back to the Netherlands meant that Belgian cons were a bit further, but 1.5 hours driving was still doable. Japan con calls for samurai, so Suki was the obvious choice!

Since I had to go to the hairdresser just before, I decided to do a rigorous thing and cut my hair to Suki length to avoid a wig (that's 50 cm of hair chopped off!) and my god what a relief to not wear a wig! The layers of the kimono and the leather armour are really warm so the fresh air on my head was very welcome.

Right off the bat I saw the most awesome samurai cosplay I ever encountered, and after some convincing from my brother I took a few pictures with him. The detail on his work was amazing and I was super happy to find a fellow samurai!

This was the first time that I visited a con with my brother and without my friend and it was so different (my friend and I no longer go to cons together). My brother really liked to engage in things so we watched traditional Chinese ribbon dancing, listened to a Japanese drum band and joined the sword fighting workshop (he kicked my butt very hard but shhh). It was a lot of fun and made me see that conventions are not just running around and buying things but also having fun and engaging in activities that you normally can't or won't. It was also the second time I took a seat and properly ate (normally it was snackies while walking) and getting some good food in you and taking a small break just really makes the day better! Also, I found the fudge shop again!

A photographer came by at the end and took pictures of me and my brother together so I have a really nice souvenir of this great day!

Heroes Dutch Comic Con - Utrecht (NL) 24-11-2024

Since DCC in spring was so nice, my friend and I decided to go to the autumn version too. Just for jokes and to test the Dutch cultural inheritance we took Patsy and King Arthur along!

I had done some repairs to the backpack since the stick-triangle that carries the box was twisted. Now that it was more sturdy it was more conproof too! I decided to wear a different pair of shoes for comfort and looks but in the end the other ones were better so we keep that in mind for next time.

We could quickly agree that the Dutchies have a proper cultural education because we could barely walk around without people quoting Monthy Python, referencing the coconuts or asking for pictures. A few times we did the horse walk with the coconuts and people stopped to film!

I almost got a heart attack when I found the best Tupac pun ever, 2Pacalypse. My boyfriend is an immense fan of Tupac and when I sent him the picture I'm sure he died a little inside. I have no regrets whatsoever.

Also, I met a Bon Clay cosplayer who was the coolest! Bon Clay is on my cosplan list so of course I had to take a picture of him, his portrayal of Bon Clay was epic: the pose, the expression, the leg hair!

It was such a great day, and with so many people recognizing you it really makes you feel seen and appreciated!

Heroes Facts - Gent (BE) 3-11-2024

Almost a tradition now, my friend and I got tickets for Facts. It's really not that far from where I live in Belgium and it's huge and well organized to it's a very nice convention to visit!

Since I didn't have any photobooth pictures of Mihawk yet and he's super comfortable to wear I decided to bring him along. Unfortunately I had to smile during the picture because of something I saw in the back and so I accidentally ruined Mihawk's dramatic expression but hey, photobooth picture was taken!

For the first time I saw bismuth in a shape that was not just weird stacked squares: an X-Wing Fighter! They had many more awesome bismuth figures at the shop but my wallet was dragging me along. I find bismuth a super interesting metal (many call it a mineral but technically bismuth is a metal) and this was a highlight of my day!

And then there was fudge. Not just any fudge, creamy, soft, melting-in-your-mouth stroopwafel fudge! I don't know how I lived 26 years without having tasted a piece of this fudge in my life. I bough a big block with the intention of eating a small piece and saving some for home, but that was before I bit into this heaven-sent treat. It was gone in a whim and now I have a new convention goal: finding the fudge shop wherever I go!

Comic Con Brussels - Brussels (BE) 26-10-2024

Comic Con Brussels was unplanned. I had friends from Slovakia coming over, but when I saw that the one and only sir John Cleese was coming I had to tell my friend about it. Luckily my friends from Slovakia really wanted to visit a convention too, so tickets were booked and the plan for a Monty Python cosplay took off!

For those who are unfamiliar with the masterpiece Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it is everything: funny, stupid, puns, cheap and very, very much in line with my sense of humor. My friend already had King Arthur on her cosplan list and I was more than happy to do Patsy. My Slovakian friends joined me to the thrift shop and threw an outfit together and then we went onwards, to Comic Con Brussels!

To say it wasn't amazing would simply be a lie. So many people recognized us, asked us to do a little horse canter with coconut clopping, quoted Monty Python and asked for pictures! My Slovakian friends had a great time too and they were very impressed with the big cosplay community that Belgium has. They also took a photobooth picture so they have a nice memory!

When we walked the catwalk we got a royal greeting and a lot of cheer from the crowd. My friends filmed us and it was awesome to have a video where we do our silly horse walk!

The highlight of the day was the interview with sir John Cleese! We didn't get to ask a question but we were very close to the stage and I'm sure he noticed us. There was also another King Arthur which made me giggle, because Monty Python is quite old and it's nice to see some cultural inheritance in the youngsters.

We finished the day with a superb pizza, they had accidentally forgotten about my order and we waited an hour but the pizza was so good they were immediately forgiven!

Also, I met like the most awesome Deadpool cosplay ever, Samuraipool! I spotted him after the catwalk and rushed to take a picture, and just when I wanted to walk away he tapped my shoulder and gave me a sticker of his awesome cosplay. I didn't even know it was thing to hand out goodies but it was so cool, and since I have no gaming laptop to stick them on I decided that from now on all convention stickers go on my sewing machine!

Luxemburg Gaming Xperience - Luxemburg (LU) 28-9-2024

I don't think I ever drove this far for a convention. When I mentioned to my friend, who is a huge fan, that Kamui Cosplay was coming to do a panel and judge the cosplay competition she was almost blowing up so we had no choice but to go. Luckily it was a tiny bit closer from the south of Belgium, but still 2.5 hours driving, single trip. I saw that there would be a One Piece fanbase so took Mihawk along for his first con!

I have to say, with the utmost respect, that this was the first con where the drive was longer than our visit. It was quite small and when we thought we'd do a quick tour of the con before the cosplay competition would start, we accidentally already saw everything. We even managed to do a second, more thorough tour before the competition started.

(I encountered something called ero-cosplay for the first time and well, it was a thing to say the least).

The competition itself was nice, but since Kamui Cosplay would do her panel 2 hours later, we already saw everything twice, had a 2.5 hour drive back and my friend got grumpy we decided to buy a good box of noodle (very tasty!) and call it a day.

My first, and probably my last, visit to LGX but I'm still happy I can add this experience to my list!

Castlefest - Lisse (NL) 4-8-2024

A friend of my friend is a diehard Castlefest visitor so we decided to try it out. No anime, all fairycore and fantasy, something really up my alley so I was very looking forward to it. Fantasy and magic called for the Mad Hatter and in hindsight I couldn't have picked a better cosplay for this occasion!

This is, by far, the biggest convention/festival I've visited so far. It was spread over the whole garden surface of Lisse Castle next to Keukenhof (yes, the one from the flowers), over gardens, fields, woods and paths. Huge stages with singers, a whole field of food trucks and various food trucks spread all over, an area for workshops, an area for bodypainting (which was super interesting) and even an area next to the castle where it was set off for photographers!

I made my first purchase very fast: a small Scotland cow keychain and I names him Boes! Boes is awesome and will stay on my handbag for all eternity. Quite early on I also spotted a ring at a German jeweler. It was awesome and (of course) exactly my size. The pattern made it look a bit like tree bark and it was artistic and silver and gorgeous. It was also very expensive. I walked around all day, gave in, went back at the very end of it and bought it. I've worn it every day all day since!

My favorite part was, I think, the photographers. They were all over and while I was taking a few pictures with my friend by the castle, one of them asked if I could pose for him. Soon two more followed, and I ended up getting professional photoshoots in the middle of the castle gardens! I was so happy that I brought the Hatter because he really blended in the vibe of the Castlefest and I felt so gorgeous. I also got all the cards of the photographers and they sent me the pictures and they are awesome!

Castlefest was very expensive, very long, very warm and very awesome!

Heroes Dutch Comic Con - Utrecht (NL) 23-6-2024

My first Dutch convention: DCC! Since this was a 3 hour drive for me I had a little sleepover with my friend before hitting the road in the morning and going to the biggest con of The Netherlands!

With her success of last time, Suki was the logical choice. We actually arrived late at the con because we both struggled with our makeup but in the end we managed. It took about 15 minutes to get dressed on the parking lot and we got a lot of onlookers but eventually we made it in!

Right at the entrance I saw the Going Merry, and since my little brother is a huge One Piece fan I had to take a picture! Later on I also got Zoro's 4 swords for him and he was super happy with them. I also made my first con purchase, a small wind chime with yellow flowers that I just couldn't leave behind!

So today I actually understood what my friend meant with 'people like to take pictures with you at cons'. We already had quite a lot of people during the day who asked for pictures, but at the end of the day it was like someone put a spotlight on us. I had reserved my brother's swords and we went to pick them up just before going home, 5 boxes of swords and 2 stands (my boyfriend fell for a katana too). It started with a family, and while we first thought only their son wanted a picture, it turned out that all 3 of them wanted a picture! Then came two boys, and even a small line started to form. I think we had 10 people who waited in line for pictures with us! I even gave my fan to a guy for the picture because he really wanted to pose like Suki with her fans and I thought that was awesome. Even though it was a bit tiring at the end after such a long day I felt super famous and it was so cool!

So yes, even though Suki is a lot of work in preparations, she is so awesome that she'll join me a lot more for sure!

Heroes Facts - Gent (BE) 7-4-2024

My second convention! Facts hit such a good spot last time that me and my friend decided to go to the spring edition!

My friend and I both have an absolute soft spot for Suki from Avatar the Last Airbender so we decided to both make her and go as a team! Since I have a soft spot for samurai I wanted to do an adapted version of Suki where I put more focus on her armour. It took a lot to finish but when she was ready I was so proud! I did my first trial of makeup on the day of Facts (I'm super good at preparations as you can see) and it actually worked out!

The con was amazing to say the least. There were a lot of Avatar cosplayers and we already got recognized in line while waiting to get in! We took our photobooth pictures and then decided to walk down the Cosplay Catwalk and we got a huge applause which was so cool. It's so nice to see that the cosplay community really supports every member!

At the end of the day there was a group picture of all the Avatar cosplayers and we were flabbergasted because there were like 30 people. It was super nice and we went home with a bunch of great pictures.

Even though Suki is super hot to wear and the makeup gives me shivers she'll definitely go with me more often because the vibes on her are just amazing!

Heroes Facts - Gent (BE) 22-10-2023

My very first convention! I've wanted to do cosplay for a very long time but I never had the guts to actually start and go to cons (public opinions on cosplay and such things), but my friend persuaded me and Facts is the first in (hopefully) a long list of conventions that I visit!

My Mad Hatter cosplay was finished after we bought our tickets and I was so ready. My friend had told me that people like to take pictures with you and compliment you and I was a little nervous. We decided to go to the photobooth and get a few pictures, and while we were waiting there a lady came up to me and told me my Mad Hatter was 'zalig' (Flemish for delicious) and I could've hugged her! The photobooth was amazing and it was super nice to get a professional picture of my cosplay.

I saw so many nice things, all kinds of shops full of anime stuff and just overall geek stuff and it was awesome. There was a real life samurai armour (not for sale unfortunately) and if I could've bought it I think I would've. I also saw the best cooking spatula ever, didn't buy it and still regret it. I'm going to hunt that spatula down on every con and if I find it, it's mine!

My first con was overwhelming but so nice! I got a lot of nice words for my cosplay and I'm so ready to do this much more often and with full dedication!
