This convention came onto my planning as a total surprise, because the reason to go there came as a total surprise.
I got contacted by a known Belgian cosplayer who asked if I would be ok being filmed while giving him a high-five next time I would take Cammy to a convention. Of course that was no problem so I agreed. Then came the question if I wanted to cosplay Venom Gwen together with him as Venom. I said that I wouldn't mind it but I had no costume (and no finances to get one). Can you believe how surprised I was when he told me he'd get me a Venom Gwen bodysuit?!
So, fast-forward a few weeks and he actually got me the Venom Gwen suit! He also got an amazing Venom mask and a whole series of ideas for videos and pictures with both Cammy and Venom Gwen. We agreed to plan for Made In Asia (this will be the first time that I switch cosplays mid-convention) and I got my ticket as soon as they came up for sale.
I already know this conventions is going to be insane, I never thought someone would actually ask *me* to be in a video or do a cosplay together so I'm super excited!
Fast forward a few weeks and I made the decision to go to MIA for two days. The reason? I have way too many people to catch up with and way too many pictures to take to cram everything into one day! So I booked a B&B, got a Saturday ticket too and started planning my weekend!
My Saturday actually started really bad. I barely slept during the night, overslept in the morning, couldn't manage to eat and felt sick because of it, got lost at the con and was immediately super overwhelmed by the amount of people that were at the convention. I really had to take a moment to ground myself and catch my breath and get back into my game, but after that it got better. I found the people I was looking for, took pictures, handed out stickers, and had a good time. I even got a photoshoot with Cammy at the end of the day with the most epic samurai ever! I was absolutely cooked by the end of the day and I was so happy to get back to my room, take a shower and hop in bed to get a good night's rest for the next day!
Sunday was indefinitely better. I got a decent night's sleep, ate, took my time to prepare my things and arrived nice and early. I found my duo Venom and we did our pictures and videos together, which was super fun. I also did a photoshoot with Venom Gwen and I'm so hyped for the pictures! After my obligations I took my sweet time to have a good sushi lunch, and after that I started browsing the shops because the day before it was almost impossible with the crowd. I got my favourite fudge and then headed to the Marvel/DC meet for a group picture. There I met a fellow cosplayer that I talked with on Instagram but never met and she was so nice! She gave me a goodiebag and now I have another sticker to add to my sewing machine!
All in all it was a great weekend, I really missed catching up with people and hanging out with friends. I think I will stick to visiting cons on Sundays though, simply because the Saturdays are too overwhelming for me. Now let's go and plan the next one!
