Jeanne d'Arc
The Inspiration
Ever since I read a book about Jeanne d'Arc in primary school I've been low-key obsessed with her. Not because of the whole religious thing or the fact that she was a general, but because she saw her purpose and acted on it. She disguised herself as a boy, tricked everyone and in the end didn't pretend do be someone she was not and stood true for her actions.
My first inspirational zap came from a fabric that I found as a scrap in my local fabric shop. It's a silvery, velvety fabric with holes that looks just like chainmail, and I decided to buy it for a later purpose. Not long after I found a curtain in the thrift shop which was a faded red colour with, believe it or not, small French Lilies on it! I took it as a sign, bought the curtain and my inspiration for Jeanne d'Arc was flowing wild! Apart from the armour I'd love to make her banner too.
She is definitely quite high on my cosplan list, I think I'll start her as soon as I can afford the foam I need for her armour. That will be a glorious challenge and I'm actually looking forward to it very much!
