Queen Of Hearts - Alice In Wonderland

The Inspiration

Sometimes Instagram really saves the day. My choice to cosplay the Queen of Hearts actually came from a reel where people had to make wigs with anything but hair and someone made a heartshaped wig out of roses to represent the Queen of Hearts. I absolutely loved the idea, and I loved Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of the Queen, so I got really antsy to make this character!

For the first time, I had no convention in mind for when I wanted the costume to be ready, which gave me a ton of time to decide on her outfit. I love the one from the film but I wanted it to be even more glamorous, even more pompous and even more extravagant. Rococo and baroque were my starting points, and since I made a few corsets for fun I definitely wanted to incorporate one!

Luckily, with the Queen of Hearts being who she is, I can go on a rampage with bows, beads, sequins and pearls!
