Castlefest - Lisse (NL) 4-8-2024

A friend of my friend is a diehard Castlefest visitor so we decided to try it out. No anime, all fairycore and fantasy, something really up my alley so I was very looking forward to it. Fantasy and magic called for the Mad Hatter and in hindsight I couldn't have picked a better cosplay for this occasion!

This is, by far, the biggest convention/festival I've visited so far. It was spread over the whole garden surface of Lisse Castle next to Keukenhof (yes, the one from the flowers), over gardens, fields, woods and paths. Huge stages with singers, a whole field of food trucks and various food trucks spread all over, an area for workshops, an area for bodypainting (which was super interesting) and even an area next to the castle where it was set off for photographers!

I made my first purchase very fast: a small Scotland cow keychain and I names him Boes! Boes is awesome and will stay on my handbag for all eternity. Quite early on I also spotted a ring at a German jeweler. It was awesome and (of course) exactly my size. The pattern made it look a bit like tree bark and it was artistic and silver and gorgeous. It was also very expensive. I walked around all day, gave in, went back at the very end of it and bought it. I've worn it every day all day since!

My favorite part was, I think, the photographers. They were all over and while I was taking a few pictures with my friend by the castle, one of them asked if I could pose for him. Soon two more followed, and I ended up getting professional photoshoots in the middle of the castle gardens! I was so happy that I brought the Hatter because he really blended in the vibe of the Castlefest and I felt so gorgeous. I also got all the cards of the photographers and they sent me the pictures and they are awesome!

Castlefest was very expensive, very long, very warm and very awesome!
