Comic Con Brussels was unplanned. I had friends from Slovakia coming over, but when I saw that the one and only sir John Cleese was coming I had to tell my friend about it. Luckily my friends from Slovakia really wanted to visit a convention too, so tickets were booked and the plan for a Monty Python cosplay took off!
For those who are unfamiliar with the masterpiece Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it is everything: funny, stupid, puns, cheap and very, very much in line with my sense of humor. My friend already had King Arthur on her cosplan list and I was more than happy to do Patsy. My Slovakian friends joined me to the thrift shop and threw an outfit together and then we went onwards, to Comic Con Brussels!
To say it wasn't amazing would simply be a lie. So many people recognized us, asked us to do a little horse canter with coconut clopping, quoted Monty Python and asked for pictures! My Slovakian friends had a great time too and they were very impressed with the big cosplay community that Belgium has. They also took a photobooth picture so they have a nice memory!
When we walked the catwalk we got a royal greeting and a lot of cheer from the crowd. My friends filmed us and it was awesome to have a video where we do our silly horse walk!
The highlight of the day was the interview with sir John Cleese! We didn't get to ask a question but we were very close to the stage and I'm sure he noticed us. There was also another King Arthur which made me giggle, because Monty Python is quite old and it's nice to see some cultural inheritance in the youngsters.
We finished the day with a superb pizza, they had accidentally forgotten about my order and we waited an hour but the pizza was so good they were immediately forgiven!
Also, I met like the most awesome Deadpool cosplay ever, Samuraipool! I spotted him after the catwalk and rushed to take a picture, and just when I wanted to walk away he tapped my shoulder and gave me a sticker of his awesome cosplay. I didn't even know it was thing to hand out goodies but it was so cool, and since I have no gaming laptop to stick them on I decided that from now on all convention stickers go on my sewing machine!
